SQL Server 2008 R2 Launch Tour Kicking Off at PASS European Conference 2010

Donald Farmer—one of the best-known thinkers on the Microsoft SQL Server Business Intelligence team—will head up the launch of the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Community Tour and dig into the new release at a special full-day Microsoft R2 Launch Event at PASS European Conference 2010 in Neuss, Germany, April 21-23.

During the Launch Event, Farmer will unveil how R2 enables highly scalable and well managed BI on a self-service basis. Steffen Krause of Microsoft Germany will join Farmer to explore R2’s new Multi-Server Management capabilities, which help scale database operations and improve IT and developer efficiency.

Microsoft’s Bob Ward and Adam Saxton will be leading two other pre-conference seminars, covering SQL Server DBA tools and SQL Server Reporting Services. Following the opening-day launch event and pre-conference seminars, attendees will be treated to two days of in-depth sessions presented by top Microsoft and community experts.

“The growing reputation of PASS worldwide and in Europe, coupled with its active and vocal community, has made the PASS European Conference a natural fit for the official start of the R2 launch event,” said Eva Hegemer, Microsoft Germany. “We strongly encourage SQL Server users to attend both the R2 launch seminar and the two-days of sessions at the conference to profit from extensive technical education and networking opportunities.”

The main conference program includes

  • 45 in-depth technical sessions by the industry’s most knowledgeable and dynamic speakers
  • Networking with hundreds of SQL Server MVPs, experts, Microsoft employees, and peers from Europe and around the world
  • Face-to-face support from the Microsoft Customer Service and Support (CSS) and SQL Server Customer Advisory (SQLCAT) teams
  • Expert answers to attendees’ most pressing questions from the SQLCAT team and top-level MVPs

See the Microsoft R2 Launch website and the PASS European Conference website for a complete agenda and registration details.
