About
I’m Maxamed Axmed (Mohamed Ahmed), a Principal Research Manager at Microsoft, working at the intersection of machine-learning research, evaluation and practical agentic systems.
My team brings together deep engineering and data-science and our work centres on Microsoft 365 Copilot: how language models reason, use tools, synthesise information and take action effectively and efficiently. The focus is on making these capabilities useful and reliable in supporting people in their work.
My broader research interests include multilingual AI, automatic instruction optimisation and memory in agentic systems, alongside questions of control, predictability and emergent behaviour in multi-agent systems.
Before moving to the Microsoft 365 Copilot product team, I was a researcher at Microsoft Research Lab – Africa (MSR Africa). Prior to Microsoft, my work focused on molecular representations and generative models for drug discovery at BenevolentAI, and on machine learning and systems at NEC Laboratories Europe.
