Leixian Shen

Hello! I am a Senior Researcher in the Future Media Experience Group at Microsoft Research Asia (Beijing). I received my Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), where I was advised by Prof. Huamin Qu and was a member of VisLab (opens in new tab).

My research lies at the intersection of Agentic AI,Human-Computer Interaction, and Visualization. I study how humans and AI can collaborate and co-create effectively in the era of generative and agentic AI, with a particular focus on advancing human agency and enabling AI systems to better understand and align with human intent. More broadly, my goal is to empower people to express, create, understand, and communicate information more effectively with AI, while exploring new forms of human-AI interaction as AI systems become increasingly capable and autonomous.
