Accelerating Government’s Mission-Focused Outcomes: Microsoft Azure Accredited to Host US Secret Classified Government Data

man infront of building

Today, more than ever, we recognize the need for secure technology that can support our government leaders in responding quickly, and with agility, to rapid changes in the global landscape. At Microsoft we are committed to developing solutions that enable our government stakeholders to capitalize on opportunities at the accelerated pace required to deliver modern mission outcomes.

We’re announcing a key milestone in advancing those efforts today with Azure Government Secret recently achieving Provisional Authorization (PA) at Department of Defense Impact Level 6 (IL6) and Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) 503 with facilities at ICD 705. At the same time, we’re also introducing a third region to enable even higher availability for national security missions to stay ahead of their unique threats.

Built exclusively for the needs of US government and operated by cleared US citizens, Azure Government Secret delivers dedicated regions to maintain the security and integrity of classified Secret workloads while enabling reliable access to critical data. The first cloud natively connected to classified networks; Azure Government Secret enables customers to leverage options for private, resilient, high-bandwidth connectivity.

Microsoft is committed to supporting the technology needs of all branches and levels of government and we’ve worked with our government customers to achieve the most certifications of any cloud provider. We’ve built the most trusted, comprehensive cloud for government which includes Azure Government, Microsoft 365 Government, and Dynamics 365 Government. We continue to invest in rapidly delivering new Azure Government capabilities to support mission needs across all data classifications. In the last six months we’ve continued our drive toward commercial parity, adding hundreds of features and launching 40+ new services and 101 total services in FedRAMP High.

As agencies face a range of new challenges in meeting their missions, we are committed to helping our more than 10,000 government customers use technology to unlock the power of data, which underpins everything they do. In listening closely to the needs of our government leaders, we continue to innovate in ways that help them leverage technology to better engage and connect with citizens, modernize the government workplace, and securely enhance government services to benefit society.
