Frequently asked questions
- Dynamics 365 Sustainability helps organizations record environmental impact, report progress, and identify opportunities to reduce their footprint. It brings sustainability data, calculations, analysis, and reporting into the Dynamics 365 ERP portfolio, connecting sustainability more closely with financial and operational processes.
- No. Dynamics 365 Sustainability is the new name for Microsoft Sustainability Manager. It builds on existing sustainability management capabilities for data, calculations, analysis, and reporting while bringing them into the Dynamics 365 ERP portfolio.
- You can manage carbon, water, waste, and energy data, plus quantitative social and governance metrics across ESRS areas. Calculate Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, report Scope 2 using location-based and market-based methods, and use supplier emissions and product carbon footprint data to strengthen Scope 3.
- It turns activity and emissions data into structured metrics and reporting facts, including standard and custom reports, and supports disclosure preparation for CSRD, GRI, IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, and SASB. Teams can apply materiality, export data to prepare for XBRL tagging, and use controls that improve traceability.
- Dynamics 365 Sustainability is now part of the Dynamics 365 ERP portfolio. You can bring in data from Dynamics 365 and other business systems through Power Query and Dataverse connectors, so sustainability data sits closer to the financial and operational processes that drive emissions and costs.

IDC MarketScape: Worldwide AI-Enabled Large Enterprise ERP Applications 2025 Vendor Assessment, IDC #US52976925e, October 2025.
IDC MarketScape vendor analysis model is designed to provide an overview of the competitive fitness of technology and service suppliers in a given market. The research methodology utilizes a rigorous scoring methodology based on both qualitative and quantitative criteria that results in a single graphical illustration of each vendor’s position within a given market. The Capabilities score measures vendor product, go-to-market and business execution in the short-term. The Strategy score measures alignment of vendor strategies with customer requirements in a three-to-five-year timeframe. Vendor market share is represented by the size of the circles.
