- Agent 365 is the control plane to observe, secure, and govern AI agents, enabling organizations to extend their existing infrastructure for users to agents with purpose-built capabilities tailored for agent needs.
Agent 365 aligns agent administration to four core responsibilities:
- Microsoft Defender admins extend comprehensive security posture and advanced threat protection to agents.
- Microsoft Entra admins protect agent identities and secure access to apps, resources, internet, and other agents.
- Microsoft Purview admins manage, protect, and govern data that agents use and create across your organization.
- Microsoft 365 admins have a comprehensive view of all agents in their organization, onboard agents through IT-controlled workflows, applying security policy templates so every agent starts secure, governed, and compliant, and track agent analytics.
- Any agent published through Microsoft 365 channels and registered with an Entra Agent ID will automatically appear in the Agent 365 inventory. Agents built outside these environments will require additional steps.
- Agent 365 provides comprehensive agent management, including discovery, lifecycle management, and IT-defined guardrails for both agents and the people who create or manage them.
- Agent 365 enforces least privilege access, secures agent access to resources, protects sensitive data, and includes advanced threat protection and vulnerability management. These controls are managed by security professionals in the admin centers for Microsoft Entra, Microsoft Purview, or Microsoft Defender.
- Agent 365 is licensed per user. An Agent 365 license is recommended for all users who interact with, own, manage, or sponsor Agent 365–managed agents. Agent 365 is also included with Microsoft 365 E7.
