The enormous amount of information on the\u00a0Internet has raised the challenge of highlighting\u00a0new information in the context of already\u00a0viewed content. This type of intelligent interface\u00a0can save users time and prevent frustration.\u00a0Our goal is to scale up novelty detection\u00a0to large web properties like Google News\u00a0and Yahoo News. We present a set of lightweight\u00a0features for online novelty scoring and\u00a0fast nonlinear feature transformation methods.\u00a0Our experimental results on the TREC 2004\u00a0shared task datasets show that the proposed\u00a0method is not only efficient but also very powerful,\u00a0significantly surpassing the best system\u00a0at TREC 2004.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
