OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of MTHFR gene polymorphisms\u00a0which may effect the interaction in between homocysteine, folic acid and vitamin B12 metabolisms.
\nSTUDY DESIGN: The subject of this study is consisted of 165 patients who were obtained from\u00a0\u201cHacettepe University Maternal Fetal Medicine Data Base\u201d. These were married women of childbearing\u00a0age with MTHFR gene polymorphisms who experienced bad obstetrical history. Plasma total homocysteine,\u00a0serum folic acid and vitamin B12 levels of the subjects were analyzed and the interrelation between\u00a0these nutritional factors was examined.
\nRESULTS: Both folic acid and vitamin B12 are significantly important and effective factors in homocysteine\u00a0metabolism in MTHFR mutant subjects.
\nCONCLUSION: Folic acid is a much more important mass measure for controlling elevation of plasma\u00a0homocysteine concentration.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
