{"id":857862,"date":"2022-07-04T00:22:02","date_gmt":"2022-07-04T07:22:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cm-edgetun.pages.dev\/en-us\/research\/?post_type=msr-event&#038;p=857862"},"modified":"2022-07-04T00:27:55","modified_gmt":"2022-07-04T07:27:55","slug":"cross-boundary-innovation-workshop-msra-and-tsinghua-future-lab","status":"publish","type":"msr-event","link":"https:\/\/cm-edgetun.pages.dev\/en-us\/research\/event\/cross-boundary-innovation-workshop-msra-and-tsinghua-future-lab\/","title":{"rendered":"Cross-Boundary Innovation Workshop (MSRA and Tsinghua Future Lab)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n\n\n<p>Invited by Dr. Lidong Zhou, the director of Microsoft Research Aisa, 20 faculties and graduate students visited Microsoft and co-hosted the \u201cCross-Boundary Innovation Workshop\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prof. Ying-Qing Xu, director of Tsinghua Future Lab and distinguished professor of &#8220;Chang Jiang Scholar&#8221; of the Ministry of Education took the subject of &#8220;From Concept to Product&#8221;, combined with two cases of working in Microsoft Research Asia and Tsinghua University, introduced how to put the ideas, theories and methods generated in scientific research into practical products from the perspective of user experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Keyang Tang, principal researcher of the Future Laboratory of Tsinghua University, gave a keynote speech with the title of &#8220;From Windows to Windows: Innovation Inspired by the Real World&#8221;. He explained the &#8220;design of design&#8221; and the general connection between this idea and digital technology with practical cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nearly 600 colleagues from various departments of Microsoft GCR listened to this sharing online and offline. At Tsinghua University, he serves as Director of the Future Lab, Director of the Lab for Lifelong Learning (TULLL), Director of Tsinghua University-Alibaba Joint Research Laboratory for Natural Human Computer Interaction, and Director of the Center for Cultural Creative Design Research of The Future Laboratory, Tsinghua University. His teaching and researching are user experience design, natural user interface, immersive perception & interaction, tangible perception & interaction, and e-heritage. Before joining Tsinghua University, he was a Lead Researcher of Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA) where he had worked for 12 years since January 1999. Dr. Xu has published over 100 research papers and granted patents, and served as the conference chair, co-chair or program committee members for the academic conferences. He is a fellow of CCF (China Computer Federation), a member of CAA (China Artists Association), CDIA (China Industrial Design Association), ACM (Association for Computing Machinery); and a senior member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers). Currently a member of Ministry of Construction Professional City Design Committee, China Artists Association, Architectural Society of China, Chinese Society of Landscape Architecture, and several other professional committees. He received PhD in Architecture at Harvard University, Masters in Literature and History of Architecture, Bachelor in Engineering, and has authored and published nearly 20 books. His books, including his translation of Delirious New York, was published at organizations including Commercial Press and Cornell University Press. Dr. Tang Keyang was curator of China Pavilion at the 2010 Venice Biennale, and has curated, hosted, and designed multiple international exhibitions such as Chinese Gardens for Living, interdisciplinary academic research programs and cultural buildings, which range from art museums, libraries, university campuses, and cultural and travel accommodations.
