Azure cognitive services language understanding intelligent service<\/a> (LUIS) lets you understand language contextually, so your apps communicate with people in the way they speak.<\/p>\n

The LUIS integration in Flow enables you to make predictions on a query string. You can design your Flow to execute a set of actions when the desired intent is detected. This post walks you through setting up a Flow to automatically create a calendar entry when your team requests a meeting on Yammer.<\/p>\n

Create your LUIS app<\/h2>\n

If you are already using \u00a0LUIS, sign in. You can also sign up here<\/a>. Once logged in, click on New App<\/strong> and then select New Application<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the window that appears, provide more information about your app and click on Add App<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

You will be navigated to the application dashboard where you can define new models and train your app. Click on the plus sign<\/strong> next to Intents in order to add a new intent.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the dialog that follows, provide the intent \u00a0name<\/strong> and an example string<\/strong>. Save<\/strong> your intent.<\/p>\n

Similarly, click on the plus sign<\/strong> next to Entities to add a new entity. Provide a suitable name<\/strong> and save<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Similarly, you can create multiple intents and entities. You are now ready to train your app.<\/p>\n

Provide examples of utterances that contain the models you defined in the previous steps.\u00a0Figure below shows an example of one such utterance. Train your app by marking the models on the example string.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Repeat this for several utterances until your app starts to make the right predictions. You’re now ready to use your app in Flow.<\/p>\n

Make a connection<\/h2>\n

The first step to build your Flow is to make a connection to your cognitive services account.<\/p>\n

Click on the settings menu on the top right corner of the Flow website and pick Connections<\/strong>. On the page that opens, click on Create connection<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

From the list that opens, click on the plus sign<\/strong> next to LUIS.<\/p>\n

You are now ready to build your Flow.<\/p>\n

Set up your flow<\/h2>\n

  1. When a new message is posted on Yammer, detect intent of the message using LUIS Get prediction<\/strong> action. To specify the expected intent, pick a pre-defined value from the Desired Intent<\/strong> dropdown.<\/li>\n
  2. Add a condition to check if the desired intent is found. In this case, output \u00a0Is Desired Intent<\/strong> equals True if \u00a0\u2018Create Calendar Entry\u2019 is detected.<\/li>\n
  3. Use the Get entity by type<\/strong> action to fetch \u2018Start Time\u2019 from the query string.<\/li>\n
  4. Similarly, fetch \u2018End Time\u2019.<\/li>\n
  5. Using the entity values from #3 and #4, create a new event<\/strong> in Google Calendar.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
