In turn, by automatically handling routine tasks, answering questions at scale, and even taking actions on behalf of your users, chatbots can allow staff to focus on more complex tasks where their skills and attention may be better applied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last month, we shared step-by-step guidelines and best practices for creating a <a href=\"https:\/\/powervirtualagents.microsoft.com\/en-us\/blog\/building-a-crisis-faq-bot-using-power-virtual-agents\/\">Crisis response FAQ bot<\/a> with Power Virtual Agents to easily help you address common questions from your audience. Identifying the most pertinent topics to support, designing the interactions between user and chatbot for optimal user experience, and publishing the chatbot were among some of the areas covered on the blog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This blog will focus on how you can use Power Virtual Agents to create a Crisis FAQ bot, which integrates the guidelines from the previous blog and then <strong>combines the no-code bot authoring experience with some slightly more advanced features to connect to live data sets for up-to-date information<\/strong>. Try out the chatbot for yourself below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the chat window, try typing e.g. \u201cWhy is it called coronavirus?\u201d or \u201cHow many active cases are there?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Behind the scenes \u2013 Taking a look inside the bot<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To quickly build out the knowledge base of the bot, we\u2019re using the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-virtual-agents\/advanced-create-topics-from-web\">Topic Suggestion<\/a> feature pointing to available online resources from reputable sources like the CDC, the WHO, and Johns Hopkins to extract dialog content so that the bot can answer questions about e.g. what the coronavirus is or what the common symptoms are.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter has-custom-border\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cm-edgetun.pages.dev\/en-us\/microsoft-copilot\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/canvas01.webp\" alt=\"screenshot\" class=\"wp-image-743 webp-format\" style=\"border-radius:0px\" srcset=\"\" data-orig-src=\"https:\/\/cm-edgetun.pages.dev\/en-us\/microsoft-copilot\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/canvas01.webp\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u2019ve also added support for the chatbot to access live data about the number of COVID-19 cases. We do this by leveraging a flow from <a href=\"https:\/\/flow.microsoft.com\/en-us\/\">Power Automate<\/a> to match the user\u2019s location input to lat\/long coordinates which in turn are submitted to a <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.botframework.com\/\">Bot Framework<\/a> skill that queries data from the Bing COVID-19 Tracker at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bing.com\/covid\/\">bing.com\/covid<\/a>. The tracker integrates data sources from around the world. We then aggregate that data and add latitude and longitude information. We <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.bing.com\/search\/march-2020\/Stay-informed-on-the-coronavirus-pandemic-with-Bing-and-Microsoft-News\">announced recently<\/a> that we are now making this dataset available to researchers and those in academia at <a href=\"https:\/\/bing.com\/covid\/dev\">bing.com\/covid\/dev<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/microsoft\/Bing-COVID-19-Data\">GitHub<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter has-custom-border\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cm-edgetun.pages.dev\/en-us\/microsoft-copilot\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/canvas02.webp\" alt=\"screenshot\" class=\"wp-image-744 webp-format\" style=\"border-radius:0px\" srcset=\"\" data-orig-src=\"https:\/\/cm-edgetun.pages.dev\/en-us\/microsoft-copilot\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/canvas02.webp\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the screenshot of the Power Virtual Agents bot authoring canvas above, we can see how the bot author is testing the execution of the flow to make sure that it returns the expected value for \u2018Denmark\u2019 from bing.com\/covid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Scale up and streamline information<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We know that many organizations are struggling with keeping up with increased demand for critical services while adapting to a complex new work environment.
