The 2016 U.S. political conventions offer a unique opportunity to bring together leaders and experts for important policy discussions about key issues including technology and the future of healthcare. During the conventions in Cleveland and Philadelphia this month, Microsoft is collaborating with local experts to host executive roundtables that will focus on healthcare innovation and health education.<\/p>\n

Republican National Convention, July 18\u201321, Cleveland<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the Republican National Convention, Microsoft is partnering with the Cleveland Clinic and Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) to host a roundtable titled \u201cThe Caregiver of Tomorrow \u2013 Health and Technology Innovation.\u201d Ben Harder, U.S. News and World Report chief of health analysis and managing editor, will moderate a conversation with Toby Cosgrove, M.D., CEO and president of the Cleveland Clinic; Barbara R. Snyder, president of CWRU; and Laura Wallace, vice president of U.S. Health and Life Sciences at Microsoft.<\/p>\n

CWRU Medical School and the Cleveland Clinic have been collaborating to build a new kind of healthcare education campus, built on technology and design innovation. The growth of healthcare technology, including connected medical devices, mobile apps and the cloud, requires medical schools to train physicians to understand the technological resources that will shape the way medicine is practiced.<\/p>\n

The roundtable will take place at the Global Center for Health Innovation<\/a> in Cleveland on Tuesday, July 19, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. EDT.<\/p>\n

Democratic National Convention, July 25\u201328, Philadelphia<\/strong><\/p>\n

Then, during the Democratic National Convention, Microsoft will host an executive roundtable titled \u201cHealthcare Innovations and Best Practices.\u201d Panelists from Johns Hopkins University, Johnson & Johnson, Merck, the University City Science Center and representatives from Microsoft U.S. Health and Life Sciences will discuss health innovation and education. The panel will cover topics including healthcare innovation and partner best practices.<\/p>\n

The roundtable will take place at the Microsoft\u00a0Reactor in Philadelphia on Wednesday, July 27, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. EDT.<\/p>\n
