Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager 2006 Service Pack 1

Microsoft® System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM) 2006 Service Pack 1 (SP1) enables you to protect more types of file servers, provides an interface for configuring your Microsoft Update selection, and includes updates previously released as individual hot fixes plus several bug fixes. The DPM product team recommends that every installation of DPM take advantage of these improvements by installing DPM SP1.

Supported Operating Systems

Windows Server 2003

The DPM server must be running one of the following operating systems:
• Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1
• Windows Storage Server 2003 with Service Pack 1
• Windows Server 2003 R2
• Windows Storage Server 2003 R2

Protected servers must be running one of the following operating systems:
• Windows 2000 Server with SP4 and Windows 2000 Update Rollup Pack 1, including Windows Powered Network Attached Storage (NAS) Devices
• Windows Server 2003 with SP1
• Windows Storage Server 2003 with SP1
• Windows Server 2003 R2
• Windows Storage Server 2003 R2
• Windows Server 2003 x64 Editions
• Windows Storage Server 2003 x64 Editions

Download Instructions
1. Click the Download button on this page to start the download.
2. Do one of the following:
o To start the installation immediately, click Run.
o To save the download to your computer for installation at a later time, click Save.
o To cancel the installation, click Cancel.

Installation Instructions
1. Close DPM Administrator Console before you install DPM 2006 SP1.
2. Run DataProtectionManager2006-KB923706.exe, which you downloaded from the location provided above.
3. Update the DPM file agent on each protected server. For instructions, see How to update a file agent in DPM Help.
4. Synchronize the replica for each protection group member by performing a synchronization with consistency check. For instructions, see How to synchronize a replica in DPM Help.

Important: Some DPM customers are running pre-release versions of DPM SP1. These customers should ensure that all pre-release versions of DPM SP1 are uninstalled from the DPM server, and then follow the steps mentioned in the KB article.
