Microsoft Application Request Routing Version 3 beta for IIS 8

Microsoft Application Request Routing (ARR) for IIS8 is a proxy based routing module that forwards HTTP requests to application servers based on HTTP headers and server variables, and load balance algorithms. ARR Version 3 adds support for WebSockets.

    Microsoft Application Request Routing (ARR) for IIS 8 is a proxy-based routing module that forwards HTTP requests to application servers based on HTTP headers, server variables, and load balance algorithms. ARR Version 3 is an incremental release that includes all of the features from Version 2, and adds support for WebSockets. <br /><br />ARR Version 3 includes the following key features: <UL> <LI>WebSocket Support : ARRv3 supports proxying and load balancing of Websocket connections. <LI>Retries for URL health check : It supports multiple retries of URL health check before marking server unhealthy.</LI> The ARR version 2 and ARR version 3 cannot be installed side-by-side.     • Internet Information Services 8.0 must be installed
    • WebSockets module must be enabled

  • Please follow How to install ARR without WebPI blog (http://blogs.iis.net/wonyoo/archive/2011/04/20/how-to-install-application-request-routing-arr-2-5-without-web-platform-installer-webpi.aspx) for installation instructions. Once ARR2.5 is installed, download and install ARRv3.0 beta to upgrade from ARRv2.5 to ARRv3.
