In Windows Phone 8.1, apps are delivered as AppX packages just like store apps for Windows 8.1—previously, Windows Phone apps were delivered as Xap packages; this difference brings changes to the project file in Windows Phone 8.1 projects. This document describes how you can manually upgrade an existing solution for your Windows Phone 8.0 C++ and DirectX app to target Windows Phone 8.1.
