    If you don't have Visual Studio installed on your computer, you can use Build Tools 2013 to build managed applications. The Visual Basic and C# compilers are also included in this download. (In earlier versions, these tools were included in the stand-alone .NET Framework.)

    Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2012 R2

    Hardware Requirements:
    • Computer that has a 1.6GHz or faster processor
    • 1 GB RAM for x86
    • 2 GB RAM for x64
    • An additional 512 MB RAM if running in a Virtual Machine
    • 1 GB of available hard disk space
    • 5400 RPM hard disk drive

    Additional Requirements:
    • On Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2, KB2883200 (available through Windows Update) is required
    • .NET Framework 4.5.1
  • To download all files and then install:
    • On this page, choose the Download button.
    • Select the .exe option and then choose the Next button.
      • To install now, choose the Run button.
      • To install later, choose the Save button. (The computer does not have to be connected to the Internet.)
